week 4 - trial; day 2
![]() ♫ sunday At 9AM, every television will go off, loud enough to wake anyone sleeping. The calm, apathetic voice will advise everyone to gather in the chapel for the trial. Static will continue to blare in the head of anyone dillydallying. Once all of the guests have gathered in the chapel, the doors will lock. Most of the pews have been moved aside to allow for more space, and a few tables have been set up on the altar. On the first, there is an additional copy of the rulebook, and the information cards of the victim and suspects laid out, with space for the suspects to provide their whereabouts, as well as an autopsy report. There is also a large wheeled chalkboard upon which you may write theories. On the second table is a pitcher of water and some glasses, as well as very simple sandwiches and pastries. The door behind the altar has finally been unlocked. It's a rather plain room with an area set off by a folding screen. Inside, you will find a table on which the victim's body has been laid out. Next to the table, two black and white photographs have been hung on the screen. they are close ups of the victim's body, as it was found when the body discovery announcement chimed. A few sticks of incense burn in the corner to avoid any smells. At 6PM, the trial will adjourn, after which everyone is expected to have cast their votes. >Discuss? Someone would draw their sword like, [and he mimes drawing an invisible sword from his left hip with his right hand,] if they were right-handed, right?
no subject
( Says the sword. )

[Puts a hand to his chin.]
You... can't use your sword with your left hand, right? Aren't most Japanese sword two-handed anyway?
[he knows nothing about this.]
no subject
( And he'll draw his sword (with his right hand, even) and show it to Hinata. It's 33.9 CM (or about 13 inches). )
I can use it with both hands if I want to but I normally only have to use one.
no subject
[He doesn't take the sword, but he does move a few steps over to take a closer look at it, nodding.
...Then looking suddenly uncomfortable.]
Um... would you say that a shorter blade would be... easier to slit someone's throat with than a longer one?
no subject
It would depend how close they had to be. If they were far away, a longer blade would work but then they'd have to hit the neck, which is a much smaller target to hit. If they were really close, though, they'd have to use a shorter blade.
no subject
It either points to a shorter weapon, or someone who's incredibly skilled at using a long-range weapon.
...Can a spear be used for slicing?

...Thanks, Urashima.

[he grins a little at the way she mimes stabbing herself because that looks a little silly, then shakes his head to focus back on the trial.]
It's a good idea though, asking the suspects to cut something with their blades. We haven't found another weapon, right?

The rules say that if evidence is withheld, it may still appear during the trial, so... I wonder if it's safe to assume that means that we've found all the evidence? Maybe we should, um, you know. Like we've done before, make sure the suspects aren't hiding anything in their clothes.
[Strip 'em]
