week 0 - arrival
![]() ♫ saturday & sunday 36 players remaining You remember happening upon something awful and nauseating. What it was, precisely, is lost to you, but you have the instinctive feeling that by escaping from it, you've avoided something terrible. When you open your eyes, you find yourself laying in bed in a dark, dusty room, facing a digital alarm clock. Its face, reading 12:01, is one of the only sources of light in the room. The other comes from the window, shadows flickering about. Opening the blinds will reveal that it is nighttime, and what looks to be a massive bonfire has been lit in the street at the front of the building. A wooden talisman hangs around your neck, with one of seven symbols carved on the back. Attempting to take off the talisman will result in a wave of intense dread, and the all-too-familiar nausea. A brass key engraved with a unique room number lays on the bedside table beside the clock, as well. But you won't get any answers just sitting in your room all night. >Investigate? This is an open mingle for arrival in the town. Waking up just after midnight on Saturday, characters will have the weekend to explore and socialize before the plot begins. The profiles and IC rulebooks (both the personal ones and the public one at the chapel) have not been revealed/given out yet. The kitchen will still 'prepare' breakfast on these days, and the bonfire will burn continuously into the daytime. Per items: smaller items that a character could easily carry with them will be in their rooms. Animals and larger objects will either be waiting outside or in the hotel lobby. setting |

Fortunately there's no sword involved, but Hinata wasn't expecting a collision either! He yelps in surprise and stumbles back himself, though fortunately he doesn't fall (this time).]
Shit, sorry! Are you okay?
[This person's several inches shorter than he is and probably a bit lighter too... oops.]
no subject
I'm quite alright. [Faize grabs his sword and pushes himself to his feet, fixing Hajime with a slight frown and a piercing stare.] Though I must ask, what exactly were you doing?
[Standing outside his door like that...mighty suspicious!! Is he gonna have to get his sword out after all?]
no subject
--Though for a moment, Hinata looks awfully confused when the other starts speaking. Almost as if he's realized he's made a Mistake and has to mentally correct it.]
Oh, uh... just looking around, trying to figure out how I ended up here. You... do you know how you got here?
no subject
[But surely that is not what this stranger is confused about? What is that look for, man? Did he stutter?]
[Faize shakes his head, harsh expression softening to something more neutral.] I do not. I just awoke a short while ago, with no recollection of coming to this inn. Am I correct in assuming something similar happened to you?
no subject
He just nods in response to Faize's assessment, though, bringing a hand up to touch the wooden talisman hanging around his neck.]
Yeah, it's the same for me... Did you end up with one of these weird necklaces, too?
no subject
[Let him just...hook his sword onto his belt real quick (on the right side, interestingly enough. Apparently he's a lefty.) and then he'll undo his collar a little bit to see if there's a necklace hiding under there. It doesn't take him long to find the chain and pull the little talisman out for all to see.] It would seem I have.
[He turns it over, frowning slightly at the symbol engraved on the back. Almost like some kind of sideways, dotless yin-yang?] I am unfamiliar with this symbol, however. Was yours similarly marked?
no subject
Huh? [He'd been too busy trying to figure out if it's some kind of weird makeup making his ears look like that, that when Faize pulls out the necklace, Hinata only blinks, trying to remember what they were talking about.]
Oh, uh, no... mine's weird, like an arrow in a circle? [He shifts his hand to show his own, though for some reason, he's loath to remove it to show him more closely. Just a bad feeling about doing so.] I've never seen a symbol like it before. That I can remember, anyway.
no subject
I see. Strange... [Curiouser and curiouser. He turns the pendant over once more before letting it go and refastening his collar. This time making sure to keep the necklace on the outside. There's no way this thing isn't going to be relevant.] Perhaps a method of translation can be found somewhere in this building. But there are still other questions that take priority, I feel. Tell me, have you come across anyone else whilst making your door-to-door rounds? The sooner I locate my companions, the better.
no subject
But... yeah, I have met a couple other people, just as unfamiliar with this stuff as we are. Who are your companions, what do they look like? I haven't seen anyone else with, uh... [he just kind of... gestures... toward his own ears as if that might somehow explain what he's getting at.]
no subject
With...? [Faize quirks a brow and unconsciously mimics Hajime's gesture.] Oh! No, you wouldn't have. My companions are... [Well shit, how to put this. Edge didn't want them to go around broadcasting the whole outer space thing on Roak. And while he's not sure that this place IS Roak, it's clearly underdeveloped as well.] Their ears are like yours, not mine. Edge Maverick, Reimi Saionji, Lymle Phi, and Meracle Chamlotte are their names. [A beat.] Ah, though Meracle is an exception. She has ears like a cat, with a tail to match.
[Something like that would surely stand out, right?]
no subject
Sorry, did you say... Saionji? Any relative of Saionji Hiyoko? The Super High School Level Traditional Dancer?
[He... kind of doubts it, though. Call it a hunch that some green-haired kid with pointy ears wouldn't know the island's resident angry little goblin.]
no subject
I...am not sure. Reimi has never mentioned anyone by that name. Or such a title...what is a Super High School Level Traditional Dancer, if I might ask?
[That doesn't sound like anything that would be a part of the Space Reconnaissance Force?]
no subject
[Come on, everyone knows of Hope's Peak Academy. What are you, an alien??
...Though judging by the ears, maybe he is an alien.]
Super High School Level, it's the title given to people who're accepted to Hope's Peak Academy. The school that guarantees success for its graduates? Saionji's one of my classmates, she's the best Japanese traditional dancer in high school anywhere.
no subject
I'm sorry, I am afraid I have never heard of such a place. With that said, it is likely safe to assume that our Saionjis are unrelated.
no subject
[He might not be calling Hinata an earthling like Vegeta is, but come on, anyone who's anyone knows what Hope's Peak is.]
no subject
Eldar is my home. I assume this...Japan? [That's what it's called, right? Japanese traditional dancer...] Is yours?
no subject
[You've got to try harder than that to deflect him, Faize.]
no subject
And I have never heard of Japan. I'm not sure the locations of our homes matter much with regards to our current situation, however. Would you not agree that it is more important to figure out where this place is?
no subject
[DID YOU COME UP WITH THAT IDEA ALL BY YOURSELF, HINATA.]
But... yeah, you're right about finding out where we are. It's gotta be in the middle of nowhere, though, I mean... look at this place.
[The technology is so old?? And you don't look like you match it at all.]
no subject
[Oh you. It's cute how you think you get it, but really your view of the issue is so very, very limited. "All over the world", huh? Cute.]
[It'll get even more cute once they've become acquainted with the full cast. An alien isn't even the weirdest shit going down in this little town.]
It must be, yes. I only looked briefly out of my window but...it seems to be a fairly desolate little town.
[This technology is BEYOND old, as far as he's concerned. This is like. Ancient... He didn't even recognize the TV for what it is.]
no subject
Yeah... I'm going to look around some more. There's got to be some kind of information as to what's going on here.
Oh, sorry, I haven't introduced myself, have I? I'm Hinata, Hinata Hajime.
no subject
My name is Faize Sheifa Beleth. [He places a fist over his shoulder and inclines his head.] A pleasure.
I'm going to have a look around more of this building before I head outside. Assuming you do not manage to find a way out of here, I am sure we will run into each other again.
