week 1 - trial; day 1

seven vices case 1 trial, day 1 ♫ saturday At 9AM, every television will go off, loud enough to wake anyone sleeping. The calm, apathetic voice will advise everyone to gather in the chapel for the trial. Static will continue to blare in the head of anyone dillydallying. Once all of the guests have gathered in the chapel, the doors will lock. Most of the pews have been moved aside to allow for more space, and a few tables have been set up on the altar. On the first, there is an additional copy of the rulebook, and the information cards of the victim and suspects laid out, with space for the suspects to provide their whereabouts, as well as an autopsy report. There is also a large wheeled chalkboard upon which you may write theories. On the second table is a pitcher of water and some glasses, as well as very simple sandwiches and pastries. The door behind the altar has finally been unlocked. It's a rather plain room with an area set off by a folding screen. Inside, you will find a table on which the victim's body has been laid out. Next to the table, two black and white photographs have been hung on the screen. they are close ups of the victim's body, as it was found when the body discovery announcement chimed. A few sticks of incense burn in the corner to avoid any smells. At 6PM, the trial will adjourn. Everyone will be escorted back to the hotel by Miata, after which everyone is allowed to head to either the kitchen to get dinner, or to their rooms. Attempting to wander off into the other areas of the hotel will trigger the static alarms in everyone's heads/televisions. >Discuss? victim suspects         cast setting rulebook

Or gone out with someone if he really was sick and needed to get medicine. If he was careful, he would have asked someone to go with him just in case because it's safer than being alone...

It would not have struck me to make use of them, being unfamiliar with them myself.

It is not foolproof, of course, but I do believe someone more familiar would be more likely to think of such a thing.

Maybe he was carried past the bonfire and it caught fire? It's lit all night long and right next to the clinic.

I think, then, Sir Vegeta wouldn't be a very likely suspect.

Like he had bad food? ( He doesn't get how allergies work! Or medicine outside war medicine! ) But if it was food, wouldn't other people be sick too?

Yes, that's true. Or they could have used an unorthodox torture method.

Then again, they also found objects there discarded, so perhaps they did try to rid of his body in there first and in a hurry figuring out that didn't work, decide to rid some of the other items for whatever reason.

... That said, it is possible they could've burned themselves in the process, correct?

How much is too much? [She glances at the list of drugs found or missing at the evidence pile.] Is it normal for humans to take this much when they're sick?

Yeah definitely. He might be big, but being so naive makes you an easy target.

If that's the case, then one of the more feeble looking suspects could have fooled him into it. Vegeta is basically out of the running if that's the case though.

Not to monsters, there isn't! You could be a hundred, for all I know! [and to be fair, there are quite a few youngish looking people with ages listed as super old here...]

Yeah. Maybe they thought tossing him off the building would make the cause of death look harder to find.

And that was early in the week. He seemed more or less ok on Wednesday when I saw him.

Maybe, but it's not that easy to make someone sick, is it? Bad food would have given him a stomach illness, I don't think cough drops or benadryl would have helped with that. Those are more for cold-like symptoms, like coughing and sneezing or whatever.

All drugs have different effects on the human body. Some are stimulants, others are sedatives. But beyond that, the killer did not use medicine as a weapon, but rather as a means to an end.

If he had died from an overdose, perhaps it wouldn't be so relevant. But Selena is correct: the killer had to have some knowledge of medicine.
