week 9 - trial; day 2

seven vices case 9 trial, day 2 ♫ Saturday At 9AM, every television will go off, loud enough to wake anyone sleeping. The calm, apathetic voice will advise everyone to gather in the chapel for the trial. Static will continue to blare in the head of anyone dillydallying. Once all of the guests have gathered in the chapel, the doors will lock. Most of the pews have been moved aside to allow for more space, and a few tables have been set up on the altar. On the first, there is an additional copy of the rulebook, and the information cards of the victim and suspects laid out, with space for the suspects to provide their whereabouts, as well as an autopsy report. There is also a large wheeled chalkboard upon which you may write theories. On the second table is a pitcher of water and some glasses, as well as very simple sandwiches and pastries. The door behind the altar has finally been unlocked. It's a rather plain room with an area set off by a folding screen. Inside, you will find a table on which the victim's body has been laid out. Next to the table, two black and white photographs have been hung on the screen. they are close ups of the victim's body, as it was found when the body discovery announcement chimed. A few sticks of incense burn in the corner to avoid any smells. At 6PM, the trial will adjourn. Everyone will be escorted back to the hotel by Miata, after which everyone is allowed to head to either the kitchen to get dinner, or to their rooms. [Bill lifts up his right arm and unwraps his hand, gently rotating it with a wince so it's palm side up. There's a pretty ugly cut on his hand, and it looks like it's on its way to recovering but not exactly healed either.]

Last week Dragonrider spent the night with me from Wednesday night until Thursday night. Thursday, she cut open my hand with her axe, because she hadn't done it earlier like she said she would! I keep reopening it on accident. Tuesday night I wanted to see if my arm was all better so I tried to climb a tree.

It wasn't better, and I managed to reopen it again.

Why did she cut you open to begin with?

I told him I would earlier when he was wondering what bleeding was like in one of the trials.

Look, letting me do it was better than him trying something on his own, right? I made sure it wasn't lethal. It's just enough to, you know, scar.

Remember during Morrigan's trial when I offered to cut myself open to test blood? Dragonrider said she'd do it afterwards, since they wouldn't go for it during the trial, but we both just forgot. She remembered at our sleepover.

Roxy also mentioned she was searching for a coat in her alibi, and the killer used a raincoat, which you still have in your room and she does not. Still, this would mean the only other prospect besides yourself would be her. Are you saying Roxy would have done this?

A regular coat, I was looking for a regular coat. Mine got used for experiments last week! I wanted to replace it with another cute pink one.

Which means, since Bill is the only one with a raincoat...

I mean, tho, that assumes that a raincoat had to have been used. Which I guess is a reasonable conclusion, since no one was bloody other than Faize and we know he couldn't have just brained himself with a rock, but...

[ she had a point. she's not sure what that point was. ]

There isn't really proof that it wasn't something other than the raincoat, although we would need to come up with an alternate option.

Is there anyway Urashima could have been killed without getting any blood on the killer? Like, if they were careful? Or could they have burned the clothes in the bonfire?

I thought of that, but the bonfire is only lit at night and during investigation. So they'd had to have carried the clothes around until it was safe to dispose of them.

Of course she wouldn't have. What is Bill going to say, however?

He would naturally say it is her.

Glad we're in agreement on that, then. I don't know if I really buy that it's Bill, though, there must be something we're overlooking...

I don't think Jamjams woulda done it, no, but I wouldn't have either. Are we positive it's a raincoat? We've had plenty of ideas before that didn't pan out because it was similar to something used, right?

Unfortunately, I'm very positive it was a raincoat.

If a tarp was used, it would have made drag marks and there was none at the scene of the crime.
