week 4 - trial; day 2

seven vices case 4 trial, day 2 ♫ sunday At 9AM, every television will go off, loud enough to wake anyone sleeping. The calm, apathetic voice will advise everyone to gather in the chapel for the trial. Static will continue to blare in the head of anyone dillydallying. Once all of the guests have gathered in the chapel, the doors will lock. Most of the pews have been moved aside to allow for more space, and a few tables have been set up on the altar. On the first, there is an additional copy of the rulebook, and the information cards of the victim and suspects laid out, with space for the suspects to provide their whereabouts, as well as an autopsy report. There is also a large wheeled chalkboard upon which you may write theories. On the second table is a pitcher of water and some glasses, as well as very simple sandwiches and pastries. The door behind the altar has finally been unlocked. It's a rather plain room with an area set off by a folding screen. Inside, you will find a table on which the victim's body has been laid out. Next to the table, two black and white photographs have been hung on the screen. they are close ups of the victim's body, as it was found when the body discovery announcement chimed. A few sticks of incense burn in the corner to avoid any smells. At 6PM, the trial will adjourn, after which everyone is expected to have cast their votes. >Discuss? victim   suspects      VOTING cast setting VOTING TENTATIVELY CLOSES AT MIDNIGHT CST.

Same deal as Faize's. It's possible, but really unlikely. Short sword over there may be a better bet.

...Maybe, but hasn't he been talking about how he wouldn't want to change the past? I don't know if the motive really fits him, and I mean... based on his behavior, I don't know how good of a liar he would be.

If we're just talking about the weapon in question, though, his is probably a better match. Like Roxy said, though, it's possible someone used something else and just...cleaned it, or whatever.

Urashima mentioned to me yesterday that changing the past will warp your spirit where he's from. Perhaps the intention was instead to make sure that no one could take it. The motive never specified that the chance had to be taken, did it?

I... guess that could be true. That would align with... what he's been saying, wouldn't it?

[ He frowns, and his brow knits together lightly. ]

I can see how that would fit with "chastity" in a way as well, but... loosely. Though admittedly, I am only used to hearing of lust and chastity in their traditional context, so it's difficult to think outside of that.

Well, if lust is a desire for something, then chastity would be the opposite—to abstain from something or to not want it, correct? Though I would be inclined to go with the "abstaining" version if only because that makes a bit more sense for how chastity would be defined outside of a...

No, that does make sense. Neither Faize nor Urashima fit the traditional definition of lust anyway, so... I think that makes sense, to approach it from that angle.

That one is admittedly the difficult one, I would think... Some of us match our sins quite well [ he means himself ], but with ones like that...
