week 2 - trial; day 1

seven vices case 2 trial, day 1

saturday

At 9AM, every television will go off, loud enough to wake anyone sleeping. The calm, apathetic voice will advise everyone to gather in the chapel for the trial. Static will continue to blare in the head of anyone dillydallying.

Once all of the guests have gathered in the chapel, the doors will lock. Most of the pews have been moved aside to allow for more space, and a few tables have been set up on the altar. On the first, there is an additional copy of the rulebook, and the information cards of the victim and suspects laid out, with space for the suspects to provide their whereabouts, as well as an autopsy report. There is also a large wheeled chalkboard upon which you may write theories. On the second table is a pitcher of water and some glasses, as well as very simple sandwiches and pastries.

The door behind the altar has finally been unlocked. It's a rather plain room with an area set off by a folding screen. Inside, you will find a table on which the victim's body has been laid out. Next to the table, two black and white photographs have been hung on the screen. they are close ups of the victim's body, as it was found when the body discovery announcement chimed. A few sticks of incense burn in the corner to avoid any smells.

At 6PM, the trial will adjourn. Everyone will be escorted back to the hotel by Miata, after which everyone is allowed to head to either the kitchen to get dinner, or to their rooms. Attempting to wander off into the other areas of the hotel will trigger the static alarms in everyone's heads/televisions.

[ Even though her eyes are red and she's been inside her room all day during the investigation, she might as well ask: ]

... Okay, so what the hell did I miss yesterday and who wants to start explaining this shit to me? Besides, the whole, you know, basic stuff.

[Let's just get something out of the way right now.]

I had Poland's key all day on Thursday, and we shared the same room that night. I would have noticed if she'd gone anywhere, and she would have been locked out of her own room if she'd left.

[Looking at that suspect list, looking pretty scandalized right now???]

Are you kidding me???

[You can actually hear the extra two question marks in her voice???]

Er— [THIS IS STRESSFUL and not good for his fragile delicate stomach, honestly. He needs coffee. He needs to smoke?? He's got a pack in his hand, but he's not a rude punk who'd smoke in a room full of crowded people, so he's mostly just flipping the lid on and off out of nervous tension.]

...I can answer any questions anyone has or... if anyone needs my room key, or—

[WHAT ELSE CAN HE GIVE HE'S JUST A LONE NOODLE.]

These clues sound a lot stranger than the ones from last time. [ And now they have to go through this uncomfortable procedure again. He closes his eyes briefly as he exhales. ]

Okay, does anybody have any ideas about what could have made those trails in the snow? Or any theories about the cup and spoon.

[Back to evidence and not gossip- The pen and observations of Dhaos catch her attention. The faint redness is probably blood but it's best to make sure of everything. Lucy picks up the pen and looks it over for any markings.

Additionally, she will make a small squiggle on the note in the corner to check the color of the ink. Does it match the notes found on the notepad?]
princessantly: (STILL NOT SURE IT'S EDIBLE)

[personal profile] princessantly 2016-02-28 01:56 am (UTC)(link)
It was mentioned that the notepad had a page missing... could that have been the ash that was found? If we check her notes to see if any of the suspects were mentioned, then anyone missing ought to be more suspicious, right?
symbologic: about space blow jobs? (unsure ☄ How did we start talking)

I have a question. Buddy, you said that you couldn't open the door normally because Kurisu's body was blocking it from the inside, right? And if memory serves, the examination room has no other doors or windows. Bearing that in mind...how did her killer manage to leave the room at all?

[This might be an important thing to figure out maybe possibly? Or we could just keep talking about the sex lives of nations and also anime. It's whatever.]
herbgrace: (for this wisdom I have lost my innocence)

Kurisu has several symptoms that match with bleach poisoning. As well as the blisters on her mouth, she has blisters inside it and on her throat. Her throat is also swollen, and her eyes are red.

[ Now that we're back on the topic of murder, Inaba actually has another question of her own. ]

By the way, Makise "appeared" to have died by blunt force trauma, right? [ Even though poison might have also been A Thing ] Do we even know what the weapon was?

[COFFEE INVESTIGATION GO!! It's a field trip to the kitchen, someone better smuggle snacks back in.

Lucy heads straight to the kitchen to get a pot of coffee brewing, someone else will have to go get the bleach and detergent to mix in for testing.]

( Why him...

It takes Urashima a little while to write down his alibi! There's a lot of erasing and some crossing out before he settles down on something pretty basic.
)

Uhm... I can answer any questions if anyone has any... ( And since he wrote it down and everything, ) And...! Did anyone else.... see Miss Makise Thursday?

( Anyone???? )
fourleafcleaver: (everybody's got a limit all right)

[whyyyyyyy]

Um... Kurisu and I went to the kitchen together not long before she died... [after interrogating Yoite like she did last week this is THE WORST karma] She got dinner and coffee, I brought some food back to my room.

...I wrote down my alibi already and I was up a little later that night, but...I didn't see her again. But I guess if anyone needs anything cleared up still...

[ So, you know, after obtaining permission from Miata, Dhaos has nabbed the chain and at some point in time passed it to Undyne, before moving to stand a bit of respectable distance. This is probably where the shenanigans begin. ]

... Here we are. You are to be dragged in the snow by chain, Rhys, and we shall compare it to the trail made earlier.

Ah... This is quite a set of troubling circumstances. If anyone needs anything cleared up, feel free to ask me. I hope I can remember enough of the days before... [He taps his temple gently.]

If you want to see my room, I have the key right here. [Casual dangling of his room key. Mikazuki will pass it to anyone who needs it.]

crime scene theories

[personal profile] crazily 2016-02-28 04:03 am (UTC)(link)
Ahh, since I had discussed it a bit, I may as well bring it up for everyone else to hear too. I have a few guesses about the state of the room that Ms. Maikse was found in~. So first, considering the odd state of the door itself, I had a guess about just why the door itself was so. The gloves were what our killer actually used to close the door, since as part of them were tied to the chain, the elasticity allowed them to pull the gloves through the door's frame to be able to close it from the opposite side. However, it'd shred and break the gloves, naturally, hence why they look the way they do.

So imagine our killer moved her body in front of the door with just enough room that they could still slip out themselves. The scissors hold up the chain how they need it to sit, and the chain itself is looped in such a way that it's holding the doorknob, shall we say? Then the glove can be pulled through, and that is the piece needed to actually close it. If that doesn't make sense, hopefully my... drawing can assist.

[ Which he'll hold up, though that's a bit tentative, since that's the part he's really hoping looks decent. Undyne seemed to get it, so he assumes so? But there are definitely some lines that are off and misplaced, as if he was drawing something with his eyes closed. It at least still gets the point across. ]

As for the scale, that's a bit trickier, but I think the chain could have been used in a manner similar to the idea of brass knuckles. If that's what actually killed her, then you would have to ensure that you would be doing more than simply knocking her out. The chains would provide many more points of impact, so you would be more likely to break the bone. Of course, that's just a guess based on the fact that the chain was wrapped around the scale, which is odd, to say the least.

[ And it is notepad investigation time! In which Alisha and cohorts will be going through the notepad to see if there are any notes on the suspects, suspicious or not, or if any of the pages before or after the missing page offer a clue.

Someone else will have to do that pencil trick mentioned, but-- ]

Ah, and we have to burn a page to see if it will match the ashes found... was that everything?
