week 0 - introduction
![]() ♫ monday At promptly 9AM Monday morning, every television in the hotel turns on. For a moment, static blares loud enough to wake anyone still sleeping, but it quickly fades out into a patternless gray image. After a few seconds of silence, a woman begins speaking. "Good morning. Thank you for waiting so patiently the past two days." Her voice is soft and easy on the ears, albeit a little flat and monotone. "If you would please gather in the chapel within the next half hour, we will be happy to provide you with answers pertaining to the current situation." Anyone not in their rooms will hear the voice echoing throughout the town as if via speaker system, though there are no actual speakers visible. Those who purposefully dawdle and delay going to the chapel will be subjected to their alarm clocks going off until they get up and leave. Upon entering the chapel, everyone will find that candles have been lit, and a small table with various pastries, simple sandwiches, and juices has been set up in front of the altar. More importantly, though, are the 36 booklets placed on the pews. Curiously, they contain photos and profiles of everyone in the town--some with startling details. There are also a few blank pages near the end. After the last person enters, the doors lock. The chapel is tiny, and very much cramped with 36 people inside, though the pews are still numerous enough to accommodate everyone--just barely. But you may as well get comfy, because it won't be another half-hour until someone shows up. >Mingle? This is another open mingle for the beginning of the plot. NPC interaction will come later in the day. profiles |

... And now, it seems that after all of this, we must wait some more to get some true clarification. This has only brought forth only more questions.
no subject
I would say so... I cannot say this has made the situation any less ominous.
[Also, you.......
... 500+ years old????]
...Would it be impolite to ask you a question with regards to your apparent profile?
no subject
[ It seemed like no one paid much attention to it on his count...so he was hoping no one would ask... ]
... It depends.
no subject
[That's the best compromise she can offer.]
But this information on you...there is no way it can be accurate. Is there?
no subject
[ He seems like he does wish to answer, this turn at the very least. ]
My true occupation is not being a 'Demon King', although there are many who believe that, and therefore some of the information provided in these so-called booklets are not too accurate. Although, they appear close to being so.
no subject
[Though the rest, then....]
... You are not human, though.
no subject
...
[ Well, he isn't human.
Hesitation, and then: ]
No.
[ Maybe he is still paranoid of being accused of being a Demon King, even if he clarified that was not what he was truly. Although, he wonders why he cares, she seems to be just a human...and they all were the same. Right? ]
no subject
Very well then. That is what I wished to ask.
[But if there are monsters, and demon kings, and manaketes, and dragons... who's to say what's right or wrong or true or false? Not her, that's for sure.]
It would appear I still have much to learn about the world. Please, forgive my ignorance as I attempt to learn.
no subject
There is nothing to forgive. You have been as polite more than some others have been.
Perhaps... there is thanks to give for that, at the least.
no subject
There is no need to thank me for that.
[Honestly... that's just common courtesy.]
I do not intend to treat another sentient being with disrespect for no reason. [She's nice to manaketes, she can be nice to...to whatever Dhaos is, she's not really sure.]
no subject
Hm...you would be surprised to know how many would, should the being not be human. Although, perhaps, you may not, depending on your own experiences.
Regardless, you are still one of the few humans who has done the courtesy before simply leaping to conclusions.
no subject
[She knows how people can be...she's seen it for herself with a lot of her fellow...generals... even if she tries to stop them, it's hardly always effective.]
For what it is worth, it is in our best interests to get along while we are here. If others give you a hard time for your designation, send them to me, and I will... inform them of their wrong opinion.
[she will give them a Stern Talking To.]
no subject
[ A human, would do such a thing for him? Dhaos can't even fathom this moment as being real, his mind reeling at the remembrance of how sour his attempt with diplomacy with humans went and then...this. ]
... Truly? You do not need to do such a thing...however, you are correct.
[ Before he realizes it, he's said that, his voice barely above a whisper. His usual calm expression still filled with shock that he can't even reign in. ]
no subject
Sometimes she wonders why humanity has to be the way it is, when it has such potential for kindness instead.]
It does not matter to me currently what your past is. What matters are your actions here and now. Likewise, my past is of no consequence here.
[That she is the Fluorspar of Grado... well, without her emperor here, what does that even mean?]
I intend to see to it that our relations here remain fair and unbiased, as much as I am able.
[For all of them--she's certain enough on that.]
If you have objections, I would hear them now. If not, that is what I will do, regardless of what I "need" do.
[Her moral scale won't allow her to do anything less, honestly. And Dhaos has been reasonably polite thus far; nothing about him has set off warning bells for her.]
no subject
Or maybe... he just wanted to believe it was true. His expression having returned to how it is normally, he carefully considers his own to say. ]
... I have no objections. After you said those words, I hardly would believe you merely to be putting on airs.
Our situation is such that we would require to take an attitude of based on what we see on paper. Even if others may...and surely the most effective way indeed would be by seeing what actions people do take.
I can only hope that some of the others here follow a similar line of thought, because if so, it will undoubtedly assist in making the right judgment down the road.
no subject
Very well then. In that case, that is what I shall do.
[She'll keep things fair, as best she's able, because that's what she wants to do.]
There is much more to all of us than these simple pages. That much I am certain of.
no subject
I am certain of that as well... and certain I am thankful to cross your path. Let us also hope that circumstances, although challenging in being still kept in mystery, end up for the best.
no subject
[She'll nod to him simply at that, and allow him to get back to whatever he was doing; she still has a few people she wants to check in on with these pamphlets in mind, before whatever their circumstances are truly reveal themselves.
TOO BAD IT'S MURDER.]
